Fuel supply parts

Fuel supply parts are essential components of any vehicle. Getting the fuel from your tank in to the engine combustion chamber requires an number of different devices and processes to achieve that task. Fuel supply parts generally consist of:

  • Fuel pump (in-tank, in-line and mechanical)

  • Fuel filter (element insert - or cartridge)

  • Fuel Injector

  • Fuel pressure regulator

  • High pressure pump

How do I choose the correct fuel supply parts?

Comparing the original makers part number (OE part number) is the sure way to make sure you match the correct replacement. The OE part numbers are often on the part that you need to replace. If you are unable to locate the part number here are some things to note while locating the correct replacement parts:

  • Engine code

  • Fuel system manufacturer (i.e. For Bosch fuel system)

  • For specific OE part number (you will need to confirm this before you order/install)

  • Vehicle manufacture date (this is not the date the vehicle was registered but the date it was made)

  • Engine number sequence (up to or after as specific number/letter)

  • VIN (chassis number) sequence (up to or after as specific number/letter)

What brand of fuel supply parts should I choose?

Brands such as Bosch and Pierburg manufacture fuel supply parts for the original car brands however there are other high quality aftermarket brands that meet or exceed the original specifications. Brands such as Blue Print, Febi and Lucas offer long warranties which show these brands trust in the quality of their parts.

How can I tell which fuel parts needs replacing?

We would always recommend that you have your vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic to receive an accurate diagnosis of which parts need replacement. Always change your fuel filter in line with the manufacturer guidance.

Hear are some symptoms that your vehicle has a fuel system problem:

  • Engine jerks or stutters at high speed

  • Loss of power while accelerating
